Ebrahim Golriz Khatami

Biography

I was born in 1322 (1943) in Isfahan, the art of marquetry is the heritage of our family and I am the eighth generation of my family who mastered this art and used it for 70 years. The materials we use in marquetry are wood, bone and brass, there is only 5 colors applied in these artworks which are black, brown, red, green and turquoise. My first master was my father, after him I learned from my eldest brother and after him my other older brother taught me. In 1987 I was honored to receive my first prize from UNESCO. I held exhibitions in most countries of the world, and my most memorable exhibition was in New York, which lasted for a month due to the great reception of the people.
