Majid Foroutan Nejad was born in Isfahan in 1973. He holds a diploma in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts. After that, due to my interest in restoring historical monuments, I obtained a bachelor’s degree in historical restoration from the university. I worked at the Cultural Heritage Organization restoring works related to architecture, including murals, and while I was working for myself, I became interested in the art of layered porcelain. I learned this art from Professor Khadem Khorasani and continued it after that. Decorations in historical monuments, other than the stucco branch, are part of it layered porcelain because the paint is layered on top of each other, it is known as layered porcelain. The difference between these decorations and paintings is that the artist, because he needs a volume of paint to make his paint voluminous, uses a material that has a very good physicality, such as rose material, which today, given the long history of this art, is still used. There are many artists who have changed the type of materials for this material, and today there are many who use new or even industrial materials and are continuing their art, but the method that I chose from the beginning and that we are interested in is the traditional method that many masters work in the same way, and its main material is rose, and some of the materials use mel, which is a kind of powder, so that the porcelain layer paint has a better volume. Finally, after several layers of paint are applied to the design, the required volume is obtained, and in the second stage, the artist applies the gold plating layer. The plating layer is always accompanied by gold plating because the gold leaf shows the protrusions of the plating layer very well due to the light reflection it has. In historical monuments, after the plating layer, gold leaf was applied to it so that the protrusions would look better to the viewer. There are different techniques to make the plating layer look better, some use acrylic powder or some do not use anything at all, and those differences vary according to the artist’s taste.
